Vice Minister Park Dong-il of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources (MOTIR, Minister JK Kim) chaired an emergency review meeting on the Czech nuclear power project in Seoul on November 2, 2026. Participants included Kim Hoe-cheon, President of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), and other officials. The meeting focused on reviewing KHNP’s follow-up measures after the termination of negotiations on the construction contract.

Following Vice Minister Park’s opening remarks, participants discussed how to carry out key tasks following that termination; the procedure and expected timeline for selecting a new construction contractor; plans to meet key milestones on time; and plans to implement subsequent measures related to the contract.

Minister JK Kim emphasized that Korea’s nuclear industry draws its competitive strength from the “team spirit” that unites individual companies’ capabilities. He said the minister and vice minister would directly operate the emergency management system to review project issues weekly and take necessary action.
